Day 2: Arusha - Ngorongoro
Departure from Arusha after breakfast and drive approximately 3.5 hours to Ngorongoro. You will arrive in time for lunch at your hotel/lodge and have ample time in the afternoon to relax and enjoy the great view of the crater floor from the crater rim where your lodge camp is situated.Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, you will drive for approximately 30 minutes to the crater floor. Upon arrival, you will be amazed by the concentration and sheer number and diversity of animals and bird life! Seated or standing in your safari vehicle, the game viewing opportunities will be endless... The Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtakingly beautiful setting and the best place in East Africa to see the Big Five. On the crater floor you can expect to see herds of zebra, wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelle, Grant’s gazelle, topi and many more. Sightings of predators such as lion, hyena, jackal and bat-eared fox regularly occur here as well. Although cheetah and leopard are a little more scarce in this park, they can still be spotted with a little luck. Ngorongoro Crater is also one of a handful of places in Africa where you have a very good chance of seeing rhino, though usually from a distance. Bird species are also numerous and varied here. After your wonderful safari day, you will be driven back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Ngorongoro - Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast you will continue your journey, passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area on the way to Serengeti National Park. Here, the sublime landscapes are home to the Maasai herdsmen who live alongside the area's abundant wildlife. You will stop along the way at a Masai Boma (village) and meet some of the people who live there. Your drive will then continue through the rolling landscapes upon which you may spot Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, giraffes, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo and more.
You will arrive at Serengeti National Park's Nabi Gate around lunchtime. Here you will eat before embarking on your first game drive that will take you to the Seronera region in central Serengeti. Seronera is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park as the Seronera River provides a valuable water source to the area, therefore attracting an abundance of wildlife. After your wonderful afternoon exploring East Africa's most famous park, we will head to your lodge/tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast you will have a full day to explore Serengeti with both morning and afternoon game drives. The Serengeti National Park is the jewel in the crown of Tanzania’s game parks and offers arguably the best game viewing in Africa. The setting is perfect – a sea of endless plains that stretches to the horizon, dotted with the acacia trees and termite mounds. Serengeti is home to huge herds of wildebeest that every year make the mass migration north, through crocodile infested rivers, in a frenzied mixture of mating and galloping that is driven by instinct. Prides of lion rule here, as their hungry gazes sweep the savannah for a chance to attack one of the thousands of eland, impala and gazelle. Solitary leopards lie high in the branches of the acacia tree while herds of elephants roam at will. This is the Africa that you have always dreamed about. After another amazing day of explorations, you will return to your lodge/tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will have another full day of explorations in the Serengeti, following the wildebeest migration, taking in the incredible show! Dinner and overnight stay at the same lodge/tented camp.
Day 7: Serengeti – Arusha (or Moshi or Airport)
After an early breakfast, you will embark on your final short game drive as you head towards the exit of Serengeti National Park. Today the drive back to town will be quite long (8 hours), but you will once again be able to admire the beautiful Ngorongoro Conservation Area while spotting game along the way. We will stop for lunch on the road as we head towards your final destination. We will drop you off at your hotel in Arusha or Moshi, or even at Kilimanjaro International Airport, depending on what you have planned for the remainder of your stay in Tanzania.
