The setting is perfect – a sea of endless plains that stretches to the horizon, dotted with the occasional acacia tree and termite mound. This Savannah is home to huge herds of buffalo that every year make the mass migration north, through crocodile infested rivers, in a frenzied mixture of mating and galloping that is driven by instinct. Prides of lion rule here, their hungry gaze sweeping the Savannah for a chance to attack the thousands of elands, impala and gazelle. Solitary leopard stakes out their place in the high branches of the acacia tree and herds of elephant’s roam at will. This is Africa that you have always dreamed about. This magnificent crater is one of the most densely crowded African wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining Black Rhino. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro crater support a vast variety of animals, which include herds of Wildebeest, Zebra, Buffalo, Eland, Warthog, Hippo, and giant African Elephants. Another uniqueness of the crater is its huge population of predators, which include Lions, Hyenas, Jackals, Cheetahs and the ever-elusive Leopard. In the afternoon, you will enjoy your picnic lunch at the Hippo pool. You will continue with afternoon game drive, then you will ascend to the top of the crater then transfer to Karatu.  Dinner and Overnight at Eileens Tree Inn Karatu.

Day 4: Lake Manyara National park and Mto wa Mbu cultural tour

After breakfast at Karatu, you will start driving to Lake Manyara National Park about 30min from Karatu Town. While the scenic beauty of this park certainly makes it worth a visit, the game viewing here is not as rewarding as in Tanzania's other Northern parks.  Nonetheless, famous for its tree-climbing lions, flamingos, large concentration of elephants, buffalo and monkeys, as well as breath-taking scenery and soda-ash lake in the centre, Manyara should definitely not be missed!  You will start game drive till noon then proceed to  Mto wa mbu a village adjacent to the park for hot traditional lunch.  Your guide will be from the village itself so you will have a unique opportunity to see the community through his eyes. Tours last around 2 hours, but are flexible. During your visit you’ll get a good feel for the social side of the village – the farms and the milling machines, the schools, markets and churches. You’ll likely start in the village banana plantation, where they grow different varieties of bananas. Then you on the way you will visit milling machines, schools and a church. Next you might visit a youth art project, and learn about the different painting styles and techniques. The artists are happy for you to ask questions and take photos. Your tour will finish in the bustling local market, where you can wander around stalls selling fruit and vegetables stalls, spices and meals. After your tour you will proceed to Arusha   and arrive before 5pm: If you will travel the same day our driver guide will drop you at the Airport
