At KLM Safaris we define Sustainable Tourism as “tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and host communities in destination visited.” It is envisaged as leading to management of all resources in such a way that economic, social and aesthetic needs can be fulfilled, while maintaining cultural integrity, essential ecological processes, biological diversity and life support systems.
At KLM Safaris we are concerned about the socio-cultural, environmental, ecological, political and physical impacts of our travel, tourism and leisure activities. Sustainable tourism requires that all parties involved in the process of travel and tourism both products and services to make a commitment to more sustainable travel practices. Sustainability in tourism is an on-going process, requiring constant monitoring and adjustment of policies as the industry constantly grows and changes. Thus, KLM Safaris and stakeholders in travel and tourism have a responsibility to respect and protect our environment through correct education, awareness, planning and action.
KLM Safaris is committed to social responsibility by investing in local communities through employment and training to Tanzanians. We are involved in charitable activities in health, education, and conservation. Our aim is to create sustainable livelihood, reduce poverty, conserve and protect the environment and nature.

KLM Safaris sustainable tourism journey commenced few years ago taking care of social, economic and environment aspects in our company activities and projects. The projects implemented relate with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) that aimed to create conducive social, economic and environment perspectives for current and future generations. We had planned for specific SDGs which were implemented based on our strategic plan to address the three pillars of sustainability. This report focuses on KLM Safaris sustainability journey in supporting social causes that benefit local residents, enhancing economic conditions through tourism activities, and organizing environmental initiatives such as waste management, tree planting, and conservation training. Our company’s strong commitment to these sustainability goals reflects passion for creating a brighter and more sustainable future.
