Health Care Volunteering
We offer a variety of opportunities in the medical field, from working in the hospital to local health care clinics or institutions located on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro in the Moshi region of Tanzania. Patients vary from children with physical and mental health problems, to the elderly. Tropical diseases and poor family nutrition are widespread and there is an immediate need to assist the community by working with local medical personnel, educating the community, and also creating plans to develop a sustainable and healthy community. Volunteers work for 6 – 8 hours a day 5 days a week from Monday to Friday, the schedule may vary from time to time depending on the needs of the placement.
Those who are interested in working in medical institutions will need at least one year of study at medical school or be a qualified doctor or nurse. For those interested in working with people of special needs you will not need previous training, but if you have experience working in this field please let us know.
Every volunteer will get a note of recognition after the completion of their project, along with the knowledge that they had an immediate beneficial impact on communities. Long term, we aim to ensure the good practices, knowledge and plans shared by volunteers will result in consistent improvement in the health of our local communities.
